Who We Are

Trinity Living Center is a program of Lutheran Services Carolinas serving Rowan County, North Carolina. We are a community-based adult day service designed to meet the needs of frail elderly and functionally and/or cognitively impaired adults. Opportunities for socialization and access to healthcare are provided in a safe environment. It is the mission of Trinity Living Center to provide a comprehensive program of health, social, and related support services to program participants and their caregivers/families.

Lutheran Services Carolinas (LSC) is a nonprofit ministry serving North and South Carolina. With the help of thousands of volunteers, donors, and advocates, LSC reaches out to veterans facing homelessness; safeguards survivors of human trafficking; protects children through foster care; fosters independence in those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities; helps children find loving adoptive homes; welcomes refugees seeking sanctuary; assists those affected by disasters; and improves the lives of many other vulnerable populations facing extraordinary life challenges.

LSC also offers a wide range of residential options and services to North Carolina seniors, including vibrant retirement communities (including Trinity Oaks); quality rehabilitation and skilled nursing services; assisted living residences; adult day services; and caregiver support. LSC’s mission statement is “Empowered by Christ, we walk together with all we serve.”

'Anyone not coming here doesn't know what they're missing'

"Anyone not coming here doesn't know what they're missing", is what our mother, Margaret Russell Sherrill, often said about Trinity Living Center. To her, TLC was absolutely the BEST place to be whenever she was not in the company of her family; or in her home; or at her church.

From the very beginning of her enrollment at Trinity, she made an immediate connection with the  caring and resourceful staff and found herself enjoying making new friends with all the other participants. As for her family, we found TLC to be the place where we knew she felt welcomed, cared for, and was always delighted to be. She looked forward to all the enriching activities, games, entertainers and special guest (pets included), or whatever the staff planned for the enjoyment of all the participants.

Our family certainly found Lutheran Services Carolinas:Trinity Living Center, to be the facility that we would, without fail, recommend to any other family for the care and enhancement of the life of their loved one."

'I always knew TLC was taking care of my Mom'

"Trinity Living Center is to me like having that special person that will take care of your children just like you'd want them to.  I always felt comfortable leaving my son with my mother whenever I needed the time away for whatever reason.  I never felt anxious and the need to wonder continuously if my son was being cared for and kept safe.  Well now that I have TLC to care for mama, I never feel anxious or worry if she's cared for and safe and getting the love she deserves from smiling faces and caring voices. When I've had any problems figuring out how to find the resources for her day care, TLC always provided information about the different resources in the community that Mama might be eligible for.  This collaboration of care has made this care taking role so much easier."

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your hours?

Trinity Living Center is open Monday – Friday 7:15 am to 5:15pm.

I am a Veteran and was told the V.A. would cover participation in the program. Is this true?

In many cases, this is true, but you must be registered with the V.A., meet certain eligibility criteria, and must have a physical completed by a doctor. Our staff is happy to contact the V.A. to find out the status of your registration with them and to work with you on how to get enrolled in the V.A. system, if needed.

Is there a certain number of days my loved one needs to come?

Although a minimum of two days per week is recommended, a participant may attend the center any day or days of the week that best fit his or her schedule.  These days are set up upon enrollment and can be changed as needed.

How long has Trinity Living Center been serving the community?

Trinity Living Center has been in operation for over twenty years, beginning in 1984 as S.O.A.R. and becoming Trinity Living Center (formerly known as Abundant Living Adult Day Services) in 1994 when it became a division of Lutheran Services Carolinas and a United Way agency.

FAQs

What kind of services do you provide?

Trinity Living Center (TLC) offers a homelike environment that encourages and assists participants to maintain their independence for as long as possible. The nursing staff at TLC can assist participants with their activities of daily life, or ADLs (including dressing, toileting, etc.), monitor medical conditions, and administer medications. Bathing, beauty shop/barber and transportation are all additional services offered at TLC.

Is Adult Day Care right for me?

At Trinity Living Center we understand the physical and emotional demands on caretakers who provide constant care for an aging parent or loved one. Our adult day center provides caretakers with temporary relief to maintain their strength while taking time for themselves to work, run errands, or just have some down time. With our highly trained staff you can be confident that your loved one receives quality care.

What if my loved one is unsure about attending?

Our center has trained staff which can help with the adjustment period for participants and their family members. Some participants leave on their first day eager to come back for their second. Others take some time to get used to the change in their schedule. Our staff is patient and compassionate towards those who are having a harder time adjusting.
